About Us

MRI Programs is a collective of art development programs focused on strengthening the skills of young creatives in the fields of music, media, and performance. Using Hip-Hop as a connector, we deliver arts education programming reflective of community, culture, and the ingenuity of local artists striving to push creativity and expression.

About Our Programming

Media Rhythm Institute offers media arts enrichment programming for youth in grades Kindergarten through high school and media arts workforce development for young adults in community settings. We work with Baltimore area schools, recreational centers and youth programs to make sure young artists always have access to artistic training.

ChannelMe Media

Channel Me Media is a visual enrichment program that focuses on developing skills in filmmaking, photography, journalism, and digital media content creation.

This program targets young visual artists and gives them education on, and access to professional equipment, software, and hands on experience creating digital and electronic media. Beyond learning the processes of pre and post media production, creatives are encouraged to use visual expression to explore self identity and social issues.

iDance

iDance is a movement-based education program that fuses local dance culture and hip-hop to guide youth through the processes of choreography, dance performance, and dance production.

Taught by dance professionals, iDance is suited for beginner to advanced dance levels interested in strengthening their skills in hip-hop and Baltimore-based dance techniques.

Beyond technical skill building, iDance provides a safe learning space to explore collaboration and team building, positive self-expression, and self-esteem.

iRhyme

iRhyme is a music enrichment program that focuses on delivering music education through an entrepreneurial lens.

This program aims to help young music creatives build skills in the processes of songwriting, audio production, vocal recording, and performance. Beyond creating music content, MRI music professionals help youth navigate important professional concepts within the music industry to help make the connections between pursuing passions and successful independent artistry.

Expressa

Expressa es un programa de enriquecimiento musical que se centra en ofrecer educación musical a través de una lente empresarial. Este programa tiene como objetivo ayudar a los jóvenes creativos musicales a desarrollar habilidades en los procesos de composición de canciones, producción de audio, grabación vocal e interpretación. Más allá de crear contenido musical, los profesionales de la música mri ayudan a los jóvenes a navegar conceptos profesionales importantes dentro de la industria de la música para ayudar a establecer las conexiones entre la búsqueda de pasiones y el arte independiente exitoso.

iSpin

iSpin is a music education program that provides hands on lessons focusing on the introductory and advanced techniques in the art of DJing. Students will learn about the proper equipment that is needed in order to DJ, how to maintain, use, and care for DJing equipment, as well as beat mixing and scratching.

Students will also gain experience using their skills to DJ in class exhibitions and for community and youth events.
